Collard & Co were appointed as Principal Contractor for an annual maintenance shutdown at a large distillery.
The scopes of work included the replacement of copper work and relocation of a large external co-product hopper both of which required management of multiple lifting operations, while seeking to minimise the disruption for other works continuing in the vicinity. The project also involved as a series of confined space entries to facility cleaning and inspection of various vessels and tanks within the plant.
Multiple projects developed by multiple different design teams were delivered simultaneously, all while continuing to drive excellent communication co-ordination and deconfliction between multiple contractors and internal client teams.
In common with many shutdown scopes, the project began and finished with the site in production with the plant being made available for works in phases. This placed an empahsis and importance on the safe isolation and control of process equipment to ensure that those carrying out work were not put at risk.
The project was completed without incident and returned to production on time.
