Collard & Co were appointed as Principal Contractor on a project to replace 8nr steep tanks at a maltings. This scope involved a significant amount of enabling works to access and remove the roof, cranage and stainless pipework fabrication.
The works were planned to co-inside with an annual shutdown and so the appointment was designed to cover all shutdown activities. These included routine periodic tasks like industrial cleaning, plant inspection and maintenance, as well as larger stand alone projects including the overhaul of the stripper loader mechanisms of two kilns, and various mechanical and electrical upgrades to the plant.
This scope included the permit control of all works and the provision of all welfare and office facilities to support a daily site attendance which peaked at over 120 persons.
The project received a commendation from the Client’s Health and Safety Advisor for its approach to managing safety on site and has been used as an example for other projects within the organisation.
